  • Anticancer – Demonstrates cytotoxic activity against triple-negative breast cancer (HCC1806) cell lines.
  • Anti-inflammatory – Extracts of S. subulatum have demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties by modulating inflammatory pathways, supporting traditional uses in treating inflammatory conditions. 

  • Antioxidant – The plant contains phenolic compounds that exhibit antioxidant activity, aiding in the neutralization of free radicals and reduction of oxidative stress.

  • Antidiarrheal – In southern Brazil, the variety S. subulatum var. squamatum has been used in folk medicine as an antidiarrheal agent. 

  • Traditional Uses – Historically, S. subulatum has been used to treat fever, skin diseases, and digestive problems.

Symphyotrichum subulatum is considered non-toxic to humans and animals. No adverse effects have been reported with typical use.

 

This extract is derived from the aerial parts of Symphyotrichum subulatum, commonly known as Saltmarsh Aster, collected in Houston, Texas. Extraction was performed using 90% ethanol, followed by filtration through a 0.22 µm filter to ensure purity.
